Roger's law

The amount of minutes you are late for an appointment is directly proportional to the amount of bumbling fools blocking your progress.

Thanks BW

I would just like to write a short thank you to blue-witch to say thank you for organizing "Blog Me" week.
I think all participants and a few onlookers had some kind of benefit from the project.
But more importantly it was fun.

A couple of years ago I bought a Ford Fiesta. I had only had it for about a week when it started playing up, the engine was over revving - even when I was not touching the accelerator. I took it back to the dealer bought it from and they appeared to fix the problem. The car has been ok for nearly two years. A couple of months ago I noticed that on occasion the old problem was slowly sneaking back. Over the past months the fault has gone worse and got to the point that just had to do something about it.
I took it to a local Lex garage up the road from where I work, but they were unable to diagnose or cure the problem. I than had a word with a friend of a friend who is a good mechanic. After much deliberation (he never uses one word where ten will do) the conclusion is the only people with the skill and technology to diagnose and cure the problem are the Ford main dealer. So with reluctance I book my car in for a check on Wednesday.
Watch this space for further developments.

Yippee
Weekend is here again and I am free for 2 days
please excuse my absences as I romp around naked and free !!

Friday....Comments

If we lived in an ideal world where everyone was totally honest ( not to the point of insulting someone). Politicians never tell lies or bend the truth. People only take what they really need from society. No locks are needed. And we all love each other.

Would it be heaven or hell ???

What drives us ? Why do people have this urge to achive something, to make their mark in life. What makes some people feel a failure and some not ?????????????

Hope this is not too heavy man.

Well no-one has suggested the most obvious subject.

How/why did you become a blogger and what fuels you. Have you previously done anything similar e.g CB or amateur radio, discussion groups etc. Do you think blogging is therapeutic and should be proscribed to some people??

Well I think my "blog me" subject today could be very similar to BW as Mrs L. is laid up at home with a bad back.. but that could be a pretty boring one i reckon as she is taking pain killers and ibrufen and resting.

here we go

write an essay on ;- Karl Marx once said "Religion is the opium of the masses" - what is the modern equivalent ??? is TV or booze or what ??

Everyone seems to be up early this morning. I was up late last night and consequently not functioning fully.

Think of a "blog me" subject....Difficult. Last night in bed my brain was going at mega rate had some wonderful ideas, but since I slept all has been wiped out.
Soooo... the subject for today if you fancy it.

How good is your memory?? Does memory get better or worse with use, do you use any little quirks to help remember things etc ???

As I was saying yesterday. Watching DB get all the hassle. Well - what about Maccer calling DB a C**t and telling the photographer to F**k off. Bang goes my opinion of another celeb.
I have been putting a lot of thought to the matter - about 10 minutes. And discussing my thoughts with people - Mrs L. and.........I think I know why DB gets the hassle......Its because..............

Bit of a mixed bag today

Firstly, I was watching the man in the box last night on sky for a few minutes before going to bed. As I tend to do most night, just out of curiosity, more to see what the crowd is up to than to look at him.
The thing that I really can't understand is the way people have to shout abuse (especially the drunks at night) and throw things at him etc as if he were in stocks ?
Why don't people just ignore him, or at least just leave him to get on with it???????

Yes it's started.
As I passed a Maple tree last night I noticed the leaves are a lovely golden brown. They make a dry rustling sound as they fall through the branches to the ground. Soon all the leaves will be brown, I think this is the most beautiful time of the year for trees as the natural colour of the leaves comes through. It can look really nice when the sun is low down and shining through the leaves
Take the time to have a look as autumn creeps up on us.

"You do not have to judge people by the job they do, the clothes they wear, the holidays they take, the car they drive or the house they live in. These are very visible signs. They are easy yardsticks."
Blue Witch Jan 12 2003.

I am always making comparisons, all the time.

I know I shouldn't.
How do I stop putting myself down all the time? Thinking everyone is better that me because they have a better job, car etc.
I am constantly kicking my own ass, and the terrible thing is I can't stop myself.

fame at last

off air tomorrow, on a training course for the day (alsmost)

If the police has web pages divided by locality showing pictures of suspects that they are wanting to arrest/interview it would help them to catch some of these loonies and criminals.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have tried to list my 10 positive and negative things.

Positive
1. Patient (most of the time)
2. Caring
3. Honest
4. Reliable (I try my best)
5. Loving (everyone and everything)
6. Empathatic (if there is such a word)
7. Faithful (not like a dog)
8. Can see the funny side of things
9. All my parts work
10. Unselfish (giving)

Negative
1. Depressive
2. Easily wound up
3. wimp (not forceful enough)
4. I avoid confrontation to the detriment of myself.
5. too easy going
6. can be selfish
7. hopeless at typing and spelling ( knackered without a spellchecker)
8. I really really hate working on and mending cars, I get really bad tempered.

I am struggling to think of any more, but I am sure there are hundreds, especially if you were to ask my wife!!

I know some of them conflict, but we are all multi faceted and it is possible to be inconsistent

I am really shocked and saddened by Coop’s post about her being attacked.

After reading the experiences of blue witch with the RAC it reminded me of my little spat with them.

My bad experience with the RAC. A long, long time ago. In a distant galaxy
I had no recovery cover and the radiator on my car blew on the M6. I managed to pull in at a services and then disappeared in a cloud of steam !!
Across the way was a friendly RAC man (like you still see). He was very helpful, Oh yes join now and you get instant cover. Brilliant. I joined, I rang the help number. “Sorry you are not on the motorway, we can’t come unless you are on the motorway, can you push the car onto the hard shoulder !!!”
(It was a LONG time ago).
I managed to get to a garage down the road, (not the M6) the mechanics were away for lunch.
I bought a radiator that nearly fitted, I then fitted it myself and carried on my way, after ringing the bank and stopping the cheque to the RAC.
The following day I joined Green Flag or National Breakdown as it was then known.

Spent a couple of hours today Sorting out my header for my blog, It appears that whilst I was tweaking the HTML a corrupted version was saved by me and the whole thing went tits up.

Spent a nice morning in the sun in the garden pulling leaves off thyme, majoram, lemon verbina, and sage to get them ready for drying for winter use.
Nice and relaxing.

I am currently lying in bed writing this blog on my palm.
It's just too late to turn on the pc. In fact I don't feel like turning it on. I had just got the template on my blog page something like how I want it, and then when I am adding a final tweak the upload is corrupted and the whole thing is knackered and I have to start again.

Friday, September 12, 2003

Just playing with the template. Some of the template is missing when veiwed on my home pc......seems to work better on my work pc.

Sometimes people ask me if I ever get fed up driving into Manchester to work.
I answer yes, then interestingly they usually just go blank – I am not sure what answer they want me to give.

This morning (Friday) is one of these exceptional mornings. All last week to drive to work has been queues all the way, slow boring, crawling most of the time. Today all light an airy, whizzing along, no queues ( or at least only small ones). Why ????????????

I feel really depressed and pissed off more today than the rest of the week. This feeling has been creeping up on me all week since I returned to work after my week in South Wales.
The question is why?
I think it’s a combination of things that are affecting me.
1. Coming back after a week off.
2. The thought of another winter of travelling to/from work in the cold and dark.
3. As usual management have decided that things have been static and too many people are getting happy and settled so it is time to fuck things up by standardising engineers working hours irrespective of whether it fucks up someone’s life as long as it looks nice on paper.
4. Sometimes I just feel as though life is overwhelming me and I am just stood on the side watching things zip past, or sometimes I feel things are bombarding me from all angles and I have no time for myself. The really pathetic thing is that I have become so entrenched in my current lifestyle that when I actually do get time to myself a am sat like a caged rabbit that has just been set free, completely bewildered and not knowing what to do. So what do I do – nothing !

Question is what do I do with it ???????????

Monday, September 08, 2003

Well its Monday back at work again.
I am feeling down, comming back after a lovely week off in a rented cottage in South Wales. I suppose I should be happy that a have a job and a regular income, but I think one of the major things that bugs me is that a guy I used to work with took early retirement and got a brilliant deal about 5 years ago, and now I am the same age as him, in fact in a better position because I have more pensionable years in than he did.......but....wait for it cos this is a big but.
.
.
the company have now suspended the early retirement scheme and I have to work at least another six years before I can retire.

wouldn't you be pissed off????
