Yesterday was a particularly satisfactory day. At the beginning of the day things looked bleak. We had appointments with the solicitor, and my wife had an appointment with a consultant at the local hospital. Worst of all our little dog was ill, considering her age and quality of life it was looking as though it may be a one way trip to the vets.

Come the end of the day things were not too bad. The solicitors went smoothly, the visit to consultant was good news and after a long chat with the vet, the inevitable has been put on hold for an indefinite period.

So in general the day was productive and positive.
This makes a pleasant change as normally most things turn to sh*t for me.

Obituary
With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person which almost went unnoticed.

Larry La Prise, the man who wrote "The Hokey Cokey", died peacefully at age 84.

The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin.

They put his left leg in, and then the trouble started.............................

Maybe I was just a little tired, but the ‘missing’ MOT certificate turned up. It was simply me reading the expiry date wrong. It expired 31 Dec 2005 and I was reading it as 2004….total dipstick.
Panic over.

As I sat in the queue on my way to work this morning I was wondering when people of the future look back at the history of human development, would think our behaviour damaging and wasteful. Would they consider us to have been irresponsible to have had millions of cars burning all the oil, with millions of people every day driving miles to sit in an office at a computer terminal, or sit in a meeting, when they could do the same thing from home or a much nearer tech village.
Would they look at global warming and climatic change, the destruction, pollution and poisoning of the environment and curse us for being ignorant greedy selfish bastards.
Maybe not – perhaps they would excuse our ignorance and carry on unswervingly on the path to the destruction of the human species. We will just become the excuse for the proliferation of pollution and the rape of the planet in the name of greed and corporate growth.
Perhaps when all the planets resources are nearing exhaustion then the corporate giant will look at forming an intergalactic ‘East India’ company and then we can have the joys of polluting and raping other planets, possibly with a bit of luck other civilisations!!
The future is bright.
